Salvation Army Camp Is Underway!
On June 22nd, the first 120 members of The Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Atlanta began their week of summer camping fun and fellowship at Camp Grandview. This year's theme is "Construction"-- as the bible study, camping activities, and friendships they will experience this week will help build a solid spiritual and personal foundation for each camper. Salvation Army Wraps up Relief Efforts at Atlanta Garage Collapse
(Atlanta, July 2, 2009) Late Tuesday evening, The Salvation Army Atlanta wrapped up its three-day Disaster Relief efforts at what remained of the collapsed Midtown Atlanta parking deck. Responding to a call from Georgia Emergency Management Assistance, the team has worked through the night since Monday providing food and hydration to more than 100 First Responders at the scene.
"Over the 26 hour period, The Salvation Army was on-hand assisting with round-the-clock meal service and fulfilling the firefighter's water and hydration needs," explains Major James Seiler, The Salvation Army Atlanta Area Command.
Seiler says Salvation Army officers and staff were also on stand by to provide pastoral or grief counseling in the event that casualties were found in the wreckage. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
