The responsibility for overseeing The Salvation Army's compassionate programs and services within Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Douglas, Fayette and Clayton Counties is invested in a Salvation Army officer with the title of Area Commander.
Major James Seiler is the Area Commander for the Metro Atlanta Area Command. In this top position, he serves as Chief Executive Officer, overseeing an operation that includes approximately 20 Salvation Army officers and a staff of more than 100 employees.
The Salvation Army is privileged to have an important group of community stakeholders serving on an Advisory Board to lend their expertise to the overall management of the enterprise. The members of the Advisory Board serve on a variety of committees in the areas of long range strategic planning, business operations and resource development. As committee members, they help make key decisions for the organization and participate in strategic planning for the future to ensure that The Salvation Army is successfully positioned to meet increasing human needs as the population continues to grow.
