The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta names Jim Lynch As Its First COO

The Salvation Army proudly announces the hire of Mr. Jim Lynch to the position of Chief Operating Officer for its Metro Atlanta Regional Services.  The newly created COO position is a result of the charitable organization's 2007 strategic planning process.  He will manage its day-to-day operations, in-turn allowing the Area Commander, Major James Seiler, to focus on strategic opportunities and community development.

The year-long strategic planning project involved an assessment and restructuring of all points of contact within the organization's operating systems:  donors, clients, staff, and management.

According to The Salvation Army leadership, the purpose of the planning project was to develop a "road map" to help The Salvation Army more efficiently and effectively manage its Atlanta area business systems, and serve its constituents well by "doing the most good."  One of the first imperatives uncovered by the study was the critical need for the creation of the senior management position of Chief Operating Officer to lead and develop the business functions of The Salvation Army's thirteen county Metro Atlanta service area.

According Major James Seiler, The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Area Commander, "In this new role, Jim will manage our Metro Atlanta Regional Services' three business units:  Operations (Finance, HR, IT), Programs, and Development. Additionally, he will be the primary interface with the various Advisory Boards in each of our four Metro Atlanta regions.

"Jim brings a wealth of practical business knowledge and experience which we believe will help us take our business forward.  He is not new to our organization, as he has been an active member of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center's Advisory Board in Atlanta for the last eight years."

Jim Lynch resides in Sandy Springs with his wife, Jacqueline.  He is a graduate of Emory University Goizueta School of Business where he earved his MBA.  Their daughter, Kristin Smith and her family, and son, Sean and his family, reside in the Atlanta area.

The Salvation Army is a faith-based organization that efficiently and compassionately effects permanent, positive change for those in need throughout Metro Atlanta. For more information, visit www.salvationarmyatlanta.org.
