25 Nashville Students Awarded Shopping Spree from Target and The Salvation Army 24/07/2012

On Wednesday, July 25th, 2012, 25 local students in need will have the opportunity to visit a Middle Tennessee Target store and purchase backpacks, calculators, pens and pencils, art supplies, binders, school uniforms and other must-have supplies just in time for back-to-school. The Salvation Army and Target are helping a total of 12,000 K-12 students across the country gear up for the upcoming academic year and get ready to succeed in school with the Target School Spree. Each child, selected by The Salvation Army, will be awarded an $80 Target Gift Card to purchase much-needed back-to-school supplies. Each child will be paired with a volunteer chaperone for their fun day of back-to-school shopping.

Education is at the heart of Target's giving and the Target School Spree is one of many ways that Target acts locally to help kids learn and schools teach, paving a path to graduation. As part the Target School Spree, Target awarded 40 of The Salvation Army divisions nationwide a total of $1 million Target Gift Cards and in-kind contributions for the shopping sprees. Nearly 500 Target stores will participate in the Target School Spree event between July 16 and September 15 in select regions across the country. The Target Store located on White Bridge Road in Nashville, Tennessee will host The Salvation Army's shopping spree this Wednesday, July 25th to coincide with the start of Metro Nashville's back to school date of August 1st.  Twenty-five local students will benefit from an $80 Target Gift Card that is awarded as part of the shopping spree, providing each child with the necessary supplies to go back to school.  Through programs like the Target School Sprees, Target is on track to give $1 billion for education by 2015.
