Nashville, TN - The Project ReDesign team took on The Salvation Army's Center of Hope Transitional Housing Single Women's Lounge on Tuesday, July 13th starting at The Salvation Army Center of Hope located at 631 Dickerson Pike, Nashville, TN 37207. The complete lounge makeover included new furniture including sectional sofa, chairs, and table in additional to a new paint job, art, and lamps to brighten the space.

The Salvation Army Transitional Housing suites and lounges have been in much need of some updating. A year ago, Major Janine Vincent, The Salvation Army Women's Coordinator, created the Home Sweet Home program which benefits residents living in the Center of Hope transitional housing that serves homeless individuals and families in Nashville. The program was designed to give these folks a place to call home.
The many family suites here at The Salvation Army Center of Hope are designed to provide a home for families who have lost everything and need some help getting back on their feet, transitioning out of homelessness and into permanent housing. Families can stay in this program for up to 2 years, are assigned a case manager, child care is available to them as well as various classes and Life Skills programs.
The Transitional Housing suites are in need of upgrades after many years of use. Paint is fading, blind and curtains are losing their shape and there is always an ongoing need for blankets, pillows, sheets, towels wash clothes, bath rugs, etc. Major Janine Vincent explained, "When a new resident moves in, we want to be able to provide them with things that would give them a little piece of home."
Karen Moore of Project ReDesign explained, "We heard about The Salvation Army's Home Sweet Home program and it was an instant marriage at first site. Project ReDesign's mission fit right in with what The Salvation Army's needs were. Our goal is to brighten up spaces for disadvantaged families. When we took a tour of the Center of Hope at The Salvation Army we were destined to take on this project."
Project ReDesign depends on donations from outside parties to create their remodels. For this specific project at The Salvation Army Center of Hope, Bradford's and IDS, inc. have both donated some items that will bring the women's lounge to life.
The first phase of the remodel will begin in the family lounges with the Project ReDesign team. Various anonymous donors have contributed to funding the remodel of the suites in the transitional housing program in addition to various volunteer groups that are lined up to work several volunteer hours on each phase of the redesign.
Volunteer Coordinator, Josh Lippincott said, "We are grateful for the Project ReDesign team for volunteering their time and services to make this possible. In addition to Project ReDesign, we have also had other work groups in over the summer, to help accomplish our mission, including Catholic Heart Work Camp and Hands on Nashville." About The Salvation Army Transitional Housing Program
The Salvation Army Transitional Housing is a program where 13 families, 8 single women, and 20 single men can work, complete school or job training and receive counseling. The program helps individuals move from homelessness and crisis to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. Each resident or family in the program has their own living quarters (apartment) and access to our shared family lounges.

About Project ReDesign
Project Redesign is an incentive-based program providing room "redesigns" for deserving families, helping them with their lifestyle and interior spaces. We also help families in immediate crisis, partially or fully furnishing their apartments.
Our committee collects donations of gently-used household items and furniture, gift certificates, or cash. All contributions are tax deductible through The Salvation Army. Receipts and pick-up are provided.
