HELPING FRIENDS, a Flood Relief Benefit on Sunday, June 13th, from Noon until 9pm.  This event is partnered with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, Second Harvest Food Bank and The Salvation Army.

"Some of our regular clientele suggested we do something for the flood victims and we thought it was an excellent idea.  In addition to other activities planned for this Benefit, we are donating 50% of the day's restaurant revenue to the Relief Fund", said Peter Leatherland, who owns Shanti's with his wife, Donna.   This all-day event will take place inside Shanti's and also, weather permitting, on the outdoor Patio, where children are welcome.  Live music starts at 1pm and continues throughout the day.  The line-up includes:  PENNIES FROM HEAVEN, with their Big Band Swing sound... Classic Rock by STEELHORSE... EL NINO, Blues with a Santana edge... and the versatile & dynamic JASON SANDERS.  All bands are performing free-of-charge.

A silent auction will be held from 4pm-5pm, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Relief Fund.  There will be a Horseshoe and Corn-Hole Toss Tournaments with the $5 entry fee, per person, being donated to the cause.  After the Benefit, Shanti's will provide the collected monies to the Community Foundation for dispersing to non-profit organizations helping people affected by the disaster.

Attendees are encouraged to bring shelf staple food items that will be distributed by the Second Harvest Food Bank.   The most needed items are canned meat, peanut butter, canned fruit, cereal and mac-n-cheese.   "Second Harvest is excited to have the support of Shanti's Seafood and More," said Jaynee Day,  President & CEO.  "The help could not have come at a better time as more and more families are seeking assistance."

A Salvation Army kettle will be available on-site at Shanti's for cash donations; but, specifically requested are merchant gift cards to be utilized for various needs such as building & cleaning supplies, appliances, etc.  Major Rob Vincent, Nashville Area Commander for The Salvation Army, said, "We are very privileged to have such great support from the community and Shanti's Seafood and More. With our partnership, The Salvation Army will be able to provide much needed items and gift cards to people severely affected by the flood."

Donna Reid-Leatherland concluded, "Your efforts, to help Shanti's make this event a success, will be greatly appreciated... not just by us; but, especially those in need who will benefit by the outcome."
