~Several families in Northeast Nashville affected by strong storms~
Nashville - The Salvation Army in Nashville responded to a call for assistance at the Ranchwood Mobile Home Park located at 2510 Dickerson Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. There are approximately 35 units located in the park in which 75% of residences were affected by the early morning strong storms, 8 of the homes were reported completely inhabitable. Many of the homes had trees through the roofs and walls, in addition to other types of damage.
The Salvation Army Disaster response crew reported that many of the families were shaken up due to the early morning storms and were very grateful to have a hot lunch provided to them. Over 50 hot lunches were served off The Salvation Army's Mobile Feeding Canteen. Salvation Army employee, Kristen Gillespie, said, "We served a grandmother who was caring for her grandchildren that was very grateful to have a hot lunch."
Another couple in the neighborhood was awoken this morning when a tree collapsed through their roof and pinned them down in bed. Early responders were able to free them of the entrapment. Gillespie said, "After the shock of being trapped, the couple had very high spirits."
The Salvation Army will continue to assess the storm damage in surrounding communities and continue assistance as needed.
