Here at The Salvation Army, we truly value our volunteers and realize they are a gift from God. Our volunteers enable us to function effectively and efficiently in everything we do from feeding the homeless a hot meal to tutoring students in our after-school program, attending to disasters as they strike to manning an Angel Tree booth during Christmas.
We know that volunteers choose to donate their time and talents to us and that does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We are here to encourage our volunteers and provide them with the tools and training they need and support them at all times.

Current Opportunities (3/1/2013)
Southern Women's Show - Represent your favorite organization at the Southern Women's Show, April 18 - 21, 2013. We will need volunteers to manage our booth space during all show hours. Please contact Misty Ratcliff for details.

Angel Tree- Starting in October, volunteers are needed to assist with our Christmas Angel Tree program that serves needy families and elderly in this community. We need folks to help in our warehouse, sorting gifts or manning booths in the area malls.
Homeless Outreach - We continue our weekly Breakfast Brigade on Main Street and Friday Night feeding under the Jefferson Street Bridge. This program is very important to our Street Family as it provides a hot meal and a time for fellowship every week. We were averaging around 200 people every Friday night in June and about 100 during Tuesday morning Breakfast Brigade. As always we welcome anyone who would like to join us to contact Misty and she will be happy to get you details on when and where we meet. If you would like to bring something with you to hand out bottled water, fresh fruit, milk, snacks, etc are always greatly welcomed by those we serve.
After School Program- Magness Potter Community Center- The program will include arts and crafts, sports, music, and all kinds of other recreation. Volunteers are needed to provide tutoring, mentoring to children ages 6-14.
GED Tutors- If you have a few hours in the evening and would be interested in helping someone turn their life around, consider tutoring in our GED program. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Office Assistant- We are looking for someone to answer phones and help with office work at The Salvation Army Magness-Potter Community Center. Averaging 350 calls a day, and our staff could use assistance filtering calls. Times are available through the week, preferably 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Internship Programs - We have several opportunities for students to gain experience in our intern program. Call for details.
