NEWS
2011 CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE INFORMATION
The Salvation Army will be taking applications for Christmas Assistance October 3 - 7 and October 10 - 14 from 9 am - noon and 1 pm to 3 pm at The Salvation Army, 200 Washington Street, Cambridge, MD. Applicants will need a picture ID, social security cards for all members of the household, proof of all household income for the last 30 days and birth certificates for all children ages 12 and under. If you do not have social security cards, please call our office at 410-228-2442 to get a list of acceptable documentation.
TODAY, The Salvation Army will serve the 22
people who walk in our doors with crisis intervention services such as Jennifer, who is a single mother and was laid off. She found another job but needed help paying
the first month's rent to get into an apartment. The Salvation Army was able to help her meet
first month's rent and move before she wore out her welcome staying with
various friends. We were also able to
help her with furniture and food.
TONIGHT we are prepared to provide shelter
to a maximum of 9 women, children and men.
Last year we accommodated 169 people with 2,029 nights of shelter and
4,058 meals.
TOMORROW we will open the office and start
again as we have for 98 years.
Our Mission is to meet human need...we serve in the
name of Christ in a uncomplicated but necessary way. The Salvation Army
fulfills this mission by working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a
year! The Salvation Army also seeks to
further our ability to assist those in need by working together with other
organizations, government agencies and churches through collaborative work and
referrals.
All of this
work that has been done, will be done today and tomorrow is thanks to the
generous support of people just like you.
Because of your care and support, The Salvation Army is able to respond
to need, wherever it may be and however it may manifest itself!
