Salvation Army Responds To Dallas/Ft. Worth Tornadoes

breaking newsAs a result of tornado damage at a nursing home in Arlington, The Salvation Army has been asked by the City of Arlington's Office of Emergency Management to set up a disaster shelter at its community center in Arlington, located at 712 W. Abram Street. Salvation Army workers will begin setting up cots in the gym at 4:30 p.m. If the nursing home is unable to secure alternate housing at a sister nursing home in the area, the City of Arlington will arrange buses to bring about 100 nursing home residents to The Salvation Army. In either case, city officials have asked The Salvation Army to remain open as a shelter tonight. It is possible that other people in Arlington will require shelter. The organization has also dispatched two mobile emergency disaster kitchens to two locations in Arlington. - Green Oaks and Waterview in Arlington - I-20 at Kelly Elliott in Arlington
