The purpose of ROOTS is to call people to biblical
Christianity, radical discipleship, contemporary communication of the gospel
and a passion for the lost. These are at the ‘root' of The Salvation
Army as part of the Christian Church.
ROOTS exists to
challenge all to adhere to the model of biblical Christianity, to discover that
spirit (the holy flame) that fueled the passion of the founders and
trailblazers of The Salvation Army and to deepen our resolve to serve God no
matter the cost. The ROOTS-South leadership team believes that we should
require a Christianity that costs something, that requires of us our deepest
devotion, and a spirit that keeps the question of our motives ever before
us.
It is a lot to expect out of an event, but we already
know that God can do anything far more than we could ever imagine or hope for.
We hope to again create an environment where God can lead and speak to every
person, no matter the age, through several avenues.
This year's theme, Dance Upon Injustice, carries a heavy load
and a strong calling to stand with God to fight against injustice.
SEMINAR INFORMATION
The seminar streams
this year will provide teaching in the following areas: Moving Through
Ministries, Helping the Poverty-Stricken, Discipling His People and Breaking
the Addictions. These four streams will be led by many different people who are
actively involved in ministry and will be able to share ways in which we can
Dance Upon Injustice on a local or global level.
