OKLAHOMA CITY - The Salvation Army of Ardmore, Oklahoma has deployed it's mobile canteen and disaster crew to a staging site in Southern Oklahoma where emergency responders are convening to fight numerous wildfires that have broke out this evening.

Captain Ernest Hull, Ardmore Corps Officer, while on the phone and reporting, states "We are in the middle of at least three or four wildfires. The wind is gusting and picking up in speed. As each gust comes, we can see very large flames take to the skies."

The canteen is currently providing hydration, in the form of Gatorade, Water, Coffee and other beverages, as well as providing snacks. It is anticipated it could be at an all night stand as the fires are not contained and continue to grow. The Army's response will continue until they are no longer needed.

Even today, Captain Hull and other staff members of the Ardmore Corps continue to help the victims of the Lone Grove tornado that took eight lives and destroyed 118 homes earlier this month.

Financial donations continue to be needed to support relief efforts in the area. The Salvation Army asks those who want to help the individual and families affected by the recent disasters to visit www.salvationarmyusa.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY and designate Lone Grove Tornado and/or wildfires. Monetary donations will ensure The Salvation Army can meet the most immediate needs of those impacted by the recent disasters.
