The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services training courses are designed to orientate new volunteers and staff, to The Salvation Army and develop specific disaster skills as well as train workers to serve in supervisory positions during disaster relief operations.
Courses are taught locally and can be provided to your group or congregation at your facility, or at the local Salvation Army Corps building.

Disaster Food Service: Handling and Delivery
This course covers how to safely and sanitarily prepare food. The course will also review many types of food services provided by The Salvation Army and discuss the cornerstone component of The Salvation Army's feeding program the canteen.
Introduction to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services
This course provides participants with a overview of The Salvation Army's mission and the disaster response and recovery process. It also covers how disaster workers can best prepare and equip themselves for a disaster relief operation deployment.
Preparing Your Congregation for Disaster
This course provides roles for worship centers, when preparing individuals, congregations and communities to respond to disasters and when providing disaster relief services. It also explains how to develop a congregational response team.
Incident Command System (ICS)
This course provides participants with a general orientation to The Salvation Army Incident Command System (ICS) and explains how it is used to command, control and coordinate disaster relief operations.
Public Information Officer
This course trains participants to serve as Public Information Officers during a Salvation Army disaster relief operation and to effectively communicate "The Salvation Army's story".
