FAQs

What happens to items that I donate?

Your gently used items will be sold through our Family Stores (formerly known as Thrift Stores). Because our Adult Rehabilitation programs are funded entirely by the proceeds, you can be sure your beloved recliner will end up providing physical, spiritual and emotional support for program participants.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Not only do participants of the Adult Rehabilitation Center program benefit from your donation, but you benefit by claiming the donation as a deduction on your income taxes.

How do I get a receipt for my donation?

There are two ways:

  • If you drop off a donation at a local Salvation Army Family Store, the clerk or receptionist provides you with a receipt.
  • If you have your donations picked up, the truck driver provides you with a receipt.

Who benefits from my donations?

The men and women participating in the Adult Rehabilitation Center program are directly affected by your donations. They are provided with a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction and numerous resources to help them develop life skills and a personal relationship with God.

Your neighbors and community benefit, too. The local Salvation Army Family Store is full of great values and bargain prices on clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics and much more.

Where can I drop off my donations?

At your local Salvation Army Family Store.

Or, call 1-800-SA-TRUCK to find one of the many unattended drop-off locations in your area.

Can someone pick up my donation?

Pickup is not available in all geographic regions. Call 1-800-SA-TRUCK to confirm availability in your area and to schedule a pickup time.
