Women's Auxiliary Celebrates 40 years of Service With A Project For Fallen Soldiers

WHAT:
This year marks the 40th Anniversary of The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary in metro Atlanta.  The Women's Auxiliary is a volunteer group of more than 200 metro area women who work to raise awareness and funds for The Salvation Army's programs for men, women and children.

On March 17th, forty Auxiliary members will gather to sort and pack 400 toiletry items into Personal Comfort Kits for distribution to local homeless Veterans residing in The Salvation Army Red Shield Services Shelter.

The kits will include new wash clothes, towels, and full-sized toothpaste, soap and other personal hygiene items purchased by the Auxiliary for homeless male and female Veterans.

"That these wonderful Auxiliary ladies would choose to mark their 40 years of service by doing a project for military Veterans is a true testament to their compassion and altruism," explains Major Casey Cunningham,  The Salvation Army Women's Ministries Projects Coordinator.

The kits will be distributed throughout the year to Veterans who reside in the Red Shield Shelter as part of it's 69-bed Vets On The Move Program.
