SERVICES OF THE SALVATION ARMY
In this new century, The Salvation Army is serving more people in the USA than ever before. We are already seeing large increases in the number of Americans seeking the basic necessities of life - food, shelter, and warmth. The brief review listed below will quickly show the magnitude of the mission facing The Salvation Army in communities throughout the United States.
CORPS COMMUNITY AND WORSHIP CENTERS
The community centers offer educational, recreational and spiritual resources, as well as a range of social services to provide a holistic ministry. The centers include computer labs, libraries, game rooms, dining rooms, meeting areas, gymnasiums, football and baseball fields, food pantries, a chapel, as well as classrooms for Sunday School, Bible study, after-school programs and summer day camp.
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER ATLANTA
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Atlanta currently has five unit operations, is a member of the Salvation Army Metro Atlanta, and is a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the United Way of Metro Atlanta. The purpose of our Boys & Girls Clubs is to provide youth development services and to promote the health, physical, social, educational, vocational and character development of boys and girls.
ADULT REHAB AND FAMILY STORES
The Adult Rehabilitation Centers focus solely on defeating substance abuse and comprise the largest resident rehabilitation program in the United States. Click here to see locations for Family Stores.
EMERGENCY SHELTER
A warm bed, a safe place to stay and two meals a day. For some people, that makes all the difference in turning their lives around. The Salvation Army Red Shield Services is Doing The Most Good by providing shelter for Atlanta's homeless community 365 days a year.
FAMILY EMERGENCY
Throughout metro Atlanta, The Salvation Army provides various social service resources. Specifically, each day trained staff members in one of six Family Emergency Service Offices work with clients to provide any number of valuable resources including clothing, school supplies and household needs
HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE
The Red Kettles and bell ringers are perhaps the most visible community-wide Salvation Army program in Atlanta. However, during the holidays the results from the nickels, dimes and dollars put into the kettles provides needy families with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, gifts for children, coats and shoes for kids with none to wear, and visitation to the elderly and imprisoned who have no one to care for them.
DISASTER SERVICES
In Atlanta and around the world, when flood waters rise, when tornadoes wreak havoc in neighborhoods, when fires destroy homes and dreams - that's when The Salvation Army demonstrates Christian service at its best, with not only food and supplies, but prayers and counseling.
