THE SALVATION ARMY SEND SUPPLIES TO ATLANTA
21,000 bottles of water traveling to Atlanta to help residents
TAMPA (September 23, 2009) - As the waters recede in Atlanta, The Salvation Army of Florida is helping its neighbors to the north.
On Thursday morning (Sept. 24), a truckload of water will travel to Atlanta to help residents, first responders and volunteers
More than 3,500 cases - or 21,000 bottles of water - will be shipped to Atlanta first thing Thursday morning. The water is expected to be in Atlanta by the afternoon.
"The water that we are sending up to Georgia is what we intended to be serving to hurricane victims in Florida," said Kevin Smith, The Salvation Army of Florida's emergency services director. "But the need is there right now and we know that should we have a disaster in Florida, Georgians have been there and will be here to help."
Since Monday (Sept. 21), The Salvation Army in the Atlanta metro area has help residents affected by the flooding by supplying basic necessities such as food, blankets and comfort.
