Kroger Stores Ask Customers and Associates to

‘Round-Up' for Georgia Flood Victims

WHAT:  To help Georgians affected by recent severe weather and flooding, all Georgia Kroger stores are encouraging customers and associates to donate money to assist the Salvation Army Georgia Division in providing food, water, clothing, cleaning supplies and other necessities to flood victims.

With flood and weather-related damage across north Georgia currently estimated at $250 million, assisting flood victims in Georgia is imperative. To better assist the Salvation Army in providing aid to those affected by the severe weather and floods, Kroger's Atlanta Division will also donate $50,000 in gift cards to the organization and will also provide two truckloads of water to those in need.

Although the rain has since ceased, the effects of this devastating occurrence will be felt by metro Atlanta residents and the state of Georgia for months to come - Gov. Sonny Perdue formally declared a state of emergency in 17 counties affected by the heavy rains and severe weather that began September.

"Kroger customers and associates are always very generous and willing to help their neighbors in need," said Glynn Jenkins, director of communication and public relations for Kroger's Atlanta Division. "With more than 300,000 residences affected by the recent severe weather and floods, every donation really makes a difference."

From Thursday, September 24, through Sunday, September 27, customers can give money to benefit the flood victims by "rounding up" their purchases to the nearest dollar. Customers can also make a monetary donation at any Kroger in Georgia to help provide food, water, clothing, cleaning supplies and other necessities.

WHEN:  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2009 THROUGH SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2009

WHERE:  Donations can be made at any Georgia Kroger locations. Please visit www.kroger.com to find the location nearest you.
