SAM'S CLUB DONATES $5,000 TO BALTIMORE AREA SALVATION ARMY
Baltimore, MD - The Salvation Army got an early Christmas gift as Sam's Club donated $5,000 to its Baltimore Area Command Center. This holiday season, as we continue to face tough economic times, Sam's Club and Walmart will donate $1.25 million to the Salvation Army, and bell ringers will fundraise in front of stores and clubs now through Thursday, Dec. 24.
Sam's Club, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are proud to support the charitable causes that are important to customers and associates in their own neighborhoods. Through its philanthropic programs and partnerships the Walmart Foundation funds initiatives focused on creating opportunities in education, workforce development, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and health and wellness.
The Salvation Army's highly visible kettle's career as a fundraising tool began in San Francisco in 1891 with a single crab pot and a tripod. Since then, the Red Kettle campaign has spread throughout the world, enabling The Salvation Army to bring the spirit of Christmas to the aged, ill, poor and disadvantaged. Last year, The Salvation Army, Greater Baltimore Command, assisted more than 11,350 people during the holiday season.
