PARTICIPATE IN BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING SPREE
FROM THE SALVATION ARMY AND
TARGET
More than 2,000 Children
Nationwide Receive $100 for School Supplies

25 local students visited a West Baltimore Target
store on August 11, 2009, to select backpacks, calculators, pens/pencils, art
supplies, binders, clothing and other necessities to ready them for the school
year. The Salvation Army and Target are teaming up for the Target School Spree
to provide each child, selected by The Salvation Army, with a $100 Target Gift
Card
to purchase school supplies and a volunteer chaperone to help with their
shopping selections. The students were
homeless school-age children from a Salvation Army Shelter. As part of the
back-to-school program, Target awarded 10 Salvation Army divisions with a
$25,000
grant, which included $20,000 worth of Target Gift Cards for the shopping
sprees, and an additional $5,000 to cover transportation and other
administration expenses.
