Nationwide Insurance Foundation has awarded The Salvation Army Howard County
Family Service Center a $10,000 grant. The Salvation Army was founded in 1865,
and has been operating in Howard County since 1965. The Howard County Family
Service Center is part of Baltimore Area Command. It provides crisis
intervention services for Howard County residents who are facing eviction or
utility turn-off, or in need of food, clothing, and medications. Other services
include seasonal assistance for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Summer Camp and Life
Skills classes. All services are provided to those in need without
discrimination, and are made possible through local donations.
The Nationwide Foundation is an independent corporation funded by contributions
from Nationwide companies. Founded in 1959, the Nationwide Foundation has
committed more than $190 million since 2000 to help nonprofit organizations in
communities where Nationwide associates and their families live and work. Just
as Nationwide supports its customers in their moment of need, the company's
involvement in its home communities is focused on supporting organizations that
help people facing critical or immediate need.
