Located in Hedgesville, West Virginia, The Salvation Army Camp Tomahawk is a residential camp providing children ages seven to twelve with an exciting and fun-filled camping experience in one-week summer camping sessions. The Community Camp Program provides disadvantaged youth from throughout the Greater Baltimore Metro area a memorable camping experience.
This program provides the children with a community of caring adults who establish a safe and carefully supervised environment for learning and play. The staff communicates enduring values, such as self-respect, healthy self-identity, self-esteem, leadership, and sensitivity to others. Each camper receives the opportunity to build personal competencies among a very diverse population of fellow campers. The camper can return home a more caring and knowledgeable individual, understanding more about positive character and the important of considering others.
