Emergency Shelter and Kitchen

For single men and single women are located at the Corps building on IH-10 between 7th and 11th. Our family shelter was severely damaged by the storm and is currently closed.

 

  • Dinner is at 5, and check-in for the shelter begins at 5:30 pm
  • Lockers available to secure belongings
  • Extended stay program allowing participants to save money for independent living

Short-Term Housing

The Salvation Army offers emergency shelter services and affordable housing for individuals needing a place to stay short-term.

  • Separate dormitories for single men and single women
  • Two family shelter rooms

Short-Term Housing Program Details:

  • 3 nights free (within a 90-day period)
  • Additional nights, $10 per night
  • Lockers to secure personal belongings ($1)
  • Check-in from 5:30 until 10 PM
  • Dinner at 5 PM; Breakfast at 6:30 AM
  • Check-out at 7:30 AM

Extended Stay Program

The Salvation Army’s extended stay program helps individuals transition to work and self-sufficiency from homelessness.  Support services, along with the provision of housing for up to one year, help participants prepare for and move successfully into independent living.

Extended StayProgram Details

·         Up to one year stay, including meals

·         Case management during stay

·         Help securing identification

·         Assistance with transition to independent  living, including first month’s rent when moving out

·         Help with job skills, securing employment

·         Placement in program through an interview process with Shelter Manager
