DALLAS (September 2, 2008) - Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert toured the mass-evacuation shelter at the Dallas Convention Center today, paying particular attention to the work being done by charity organizations.

Both Sen. Hutchison and Mayor Leppert expressed appreciation to The Salvation Army, American Red Cross, North Texas Food Bank, and Volunteer Center of North Texas for the strategic collaboration they have launched for disaster-relief services.

 
Mayor Tom Leppert hosts the first meeting of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Major Mark Brown, DFW Metroplex Commander for The Salvation Army.


Sen. Hutchison shares a laugh with evacuees Keith Paylor of River Ridge, Louisiana, and Keisha Taylor and her daughter Alini of Luling, Louisiana.


Mayor Leppert and Sen. Hutchison participate in a news conference following the tour.
