The elderly living in poverty comprise a vulnerable segment of our population. Many are in poor health and are unable to work. Some have no living relatives, or unfortunately, none who will care for them.
With the aging baby boomer generation, the demand for services for older Americans will continue to increase. Many have not saved enough to meet their needs in retirement, and many do not have workplace retirement plans.
Considering the ever-increasing number of senior citizens, it is vital that The Salvation Army be prepared to meet needs of our aging population.
