The Salvation Army Orlando Area Command Offers Free Emergency Disaster Training Courses
The best time to prepare for the next disaster is now!
Orlando, FL (March 19, 2012) - Help us help the world. Become a trained disaster volunteer with The Salvation Army. The perfect time to volunteer for The Salvation Army is not when a disaster strikes. Not when a crisis arises. The perfect time is now, when you can get the training you really need. So when disasters do strike and crises arise, you'll be fully prepared to do the most good. The Salvation Army will host free emergency disaster training classes for volunteers who are interested in joining The Salvation Army team.

Date: Friday, March 30th - "Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services"
Topics will include -local and national response
-phases of disaster response
-how you can respond in your community and at a -larger scale event
-how to care for yourself and others in crisis
*This course is a prerequisite to all other disaster training courses
Saturday, March 31st - "Disaster Food Services"
The cornerstone of The Salvation Army's disaster program is mass feeding. This course prepares participants to serve on a Salvation Army mobile kitchen and introduces them to the essentials of safe and sanitary food preparation. This course incorporates ServSafe® food safety standards. Complementary lunch will be served.
Time: Friday-5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.
Saturday-9:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
Those completing the courses will receive a National Disaster Training Program (NDTP) certificate upon completion. Salvation Army disaster training is free, but due to space limitations, all participants should register in advance. To register, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 407.423.8581 ext. 215.
