How does the client make their first appointment?
Upon entering a plea in Court, the client is directed to the probation office.
| |
If the client is sent directly from court, what is the procedure once he/she gets to the probation office?
The client will be asked to complete a profile sheet, giving the probation office basic information, such as address, social security #, date of birth, height, weight, education, prior charges, employment, and an alternative contact person if the client is unavailable. If this was done on a monthly court date, after the client has completed the profile information, he/she will be asked to read over the basic probation rules and office policies, and be asked to sign them. The client then will meet with the probation supervisor to review all conditions of probation as well as setup a supervision plan (payment schedule) and any necessary referrals will be made at intake. If client lives out of state or is not local (30-40 miles from office), he/she will be placed on mail-in status, and will sign paperwork stating that this is understood, and also sign a waiver of extradition if living out of state. If the client enters a plea on a day other than arraignment, he/she will meet with the probation supervisor that day and intake will be done.
| |
How does the client set their next appointment?
The client will be given an appointment each time he/she leaves the probation office. If the client makes a payment, the new appointment will be printed at the top of the receipt. If the client is on mail-in, he/she will be directed to report by mail on a specific day of each month, depending on what time of the month the case was received.
| |
How does the client cancel an appointment?
If the client is unable to make the appointment, he/she must call ahead if possible, and a new appointment will be given. The only reasons accepted to move an appointment are illness or incarceration. If the client is ill and sees a doctor, proof of doctor visit is needed for the client file, so the missed appointment will not count against the client. Lack of transportation is not a valid excuse, since there is normally 30 days between appointments to arrange for transportation to the probation office. The client may be rescheduled to come back in the same month if payment is not made in full.
If the client is unable to send the payment by mail, he/she should still mail the report in on time and specify on the report what date payment can be expected.
| |
What should the client bring to the first appointment?
Social Security card and a picture ID. The client should also bring the first month's probation payment of $60.00. If the court ordered the client to do any community service hours, then bring an additional $6.00 for the insurance fee for community service. If the client is under 18 years of age, he/she may be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
| |
What forms will need to be completed at the first appointment?
Profile information, read and sign general probation rules, and office policies.
| |

What is the process for community service work, insurance, etc.?
Once the Court has directed you to complete community service hours, we give you a list of work sites in your area. You go ahead and select a site and pay a $6.00 insurance fee and are given an insurance card with that agency's name on it. Keep that with you anytime you are working community service. We provide you a timesheet for the public non-profit agency to complete and return it to us upon completion of the hours.
