Disaster Services

Whenever a disaster strikes, The Salvation Army is on the scene offering assistance - a hot cup of coffee or cold drink, food, a warm blanket, emergency housing, and an encouraging word.

As a national first responder in times of disaster, we can provide immediate response from a local, regional, or national level in order to provide hope to those affected by disaster.
In cases of disaster, The Salvation Army is prepared to provide these basic services:

  On-site assistance to disaster workers
  Spiritual Ministry
  Mass Feeding
  Individual Feeding
  Emergency Shelters
  Comfort Stations
Distribution of clothing, food, relief supplies, and any other necessary items

Comfort Stations
During major disasters, Comfort Stations may be set up to assist with relief efforts. Comfort Stations consist of one to three tents, a mobile canteen, portable toilets, a dumpster, a shower unit, and if needed, a medical unit. These Comfort Stations serve as one-stop relief centers where victims can receive assistance.

The Salvation Army in Florida has, as part of its Disaster Relief equipment, forty-two mobile feeding canteens, ten transport trailers, two forty-eight foot mobile kitchens, cargo trailers, supply trucks, personal support units, shower units, fifty Comfort Station tents, cots, blankets, clean-up kits, and a mobile command center.
