The Salvation Army's second annual MOST Amazing Race will definitely be an event to remember. Teams from across the county will compete against one another, against the elements, and against the clock as they race around Ft. Lauderdale completing various physical and mental challenges.  Upon successfully completing each challenge, teams will receive a clue directing them to the next location. The first team to arrive at the finish line will win a $1000 cash prize.

NEW:  The team that raises the most money to benefit The Salvation Army of Broward County's transitional homeless programs as of midnight, October 22 will win a three day, two night stay at the Westin Diplomat Hotel and Spa.

The MOST Amazing Race will take place on Saturday, October 24 and will begin and end at Beach Place in Fort Lauderdale. It will challenge you and be amazingly fun as well.

NEW: LuLu's Bait Shack will host special festivities after the race for participants and volunteers.

The MOST Amazing Race will raise funds and awareness for The Salvation Army's Children & Families shelter located in downtown Ft. Lauderdale and for the recently opened program at Plymouth Colony in Hollywood. These shelters provide struggling families with not just a place to stay, but with the tools and guidance they need to get back on their feet.

As part of the Salvation Army's transitional housing program, families receive individualized case management support to help them establish goals and set time frames to achieve self-sufficiency.  At the recently re-opened facility at Plymouth Colony, families are responsible for security deposits, electricity, and food in addition to a modest monthly rent.

Teams for The MOST Amazing Race must consist of two individuals, both over the age of 18. Teams can be friends, co-workers, relatives, or even complete strangers who want to have a great time while helping out a great cause.

Teams register online beginning August 1, 2009.

Teams may fundraise using our convenient online system or by collecting money and submitting those checks to The Salvation Army along with an offline donation form.  All donations are tax deductible.

Great fundraising incentives include:

  • Any team reaching the $300 recommended fundraising goal as of midnight on October 8 will receive a time advantage for the pre-qualifying event
  • The top 5 fundraising teams (minimum of $1000) by midnight on October 8 will automatically advance to the MOST Amazing Race
  • The top 3 fundraising teams (minimum of $1000) by midnight on October 22 will receive a time advantage for the MOST Amazing Race
