The Annual Fund
"During a recent study, we determined that 95% of those individuals coming to our Social Services Department - right here in Greenville County - are first time clients, and 75% of the homeless staying in our shelters are newly homeless," says Captain Greg Davis, Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army.
"Donations to the Annual Fund help us meet the needs of these new clients. You don't have to make a big donation to have a big impact," says Captain Davis. "When you give to our Annual Fund, your gift is combined with many of other gifts. Together, your donations allow us to make a difference in Greenville."
Gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to respond quickly and effectively to those needing assistance in our area. Because these gifts are typically unrestricted, they give us the flexibility to fund our most pressing needs - and that has a huge impact. For instance:
- $25 provides school necessities for a member of the Boys & Girls Club
- $105 provides one box of food for a family of four people
- $500 provides 333 meals for clients housed in our shelters - that's 3 meals a day for 111 people
- $1,000 provides 143 nights of shelter or one nights shelter for every homeless person living in our shelters
- $5,000 provides 17 scholarships to the nine week Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp
Everyone deserves a second chance, not to mention a first.
