NEW OFFICERS ASSIGNED TO HATTIESBURG CORPS
Captains Andrew and Francisca Gilliam have been selected as the new Corps Officers for the Hattiesburg Corps. They will be arriving around June 24 to take up their new post. Captain Andrew who goes by Andy said, "I am very excited!!!!" And Francisca who goes by Frances said, "It is very exciting. I can't wait to get started."
Andy is the son of officers, Majors Owen and Linda Gilliam. He graduated from Clearwater High School and Asbury College with a degree in music. After graduation he became a professional musician and traveled with the New South Singers and Fortress. After playing professionally he became the Divisional Music Director for the Arkansas-Oklahoma and the Kentucky-Tennessee Divisions. He is a third generation Salvationist and has fifteen family members who are also Salvation Army officers. He was commissioned an officer in the 1999 Faithful Intercessor session. Captain Gilliam is an avid sports fan who loves the Florida Gators, Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves. This will be his fifth appointment. Previously he was the corps officer in Martinsburg, WV; Frederick, MD; Divisional Youth Secretary in Arkansas-Oklahoma Division and he comes to the Hattiesburg Corps from the Florida Division where he served as Divisional Youth Secretary.
Frances is from the Washington D.C. area. She grew up attending the Arlington Corps. Frances graduated from high school in Corpus Christi, TX and immediately went into the College for Officer Training. She has been an officer for 16 years, graduating in the 1991 Servant of Jesus session. She is an avid reader and loves doing crossword puzzles and scrapbooking with her friends. She is into exercising and staying fit. Frances loves keeping in touch with people on Facebook and uses it as an outlet for ministry with young people and adults as well.
Andy and Frances are the proud parents of two boys. Ben (10) and Isaac (8). The boys love fishing, biking, swimming, Playstation and being with friends.
The Gilliam family is very excited about coming to Hattiesburg. Many of their close friends have had the joy of serving in Hattiesburg and they are honored to follow in their footsteps.
