EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance provided
-Rent/Mortgage (one month's payment)
-Energy Assistance (amount based on qualifying need)
In order to qualify, person must have emergency that caused them to have additional expenses or loss of income (i.e. loss of job or medical expenses). Documentation supporting loss of income required at time of appointment.
AND/OR
-Person must have a disconnect notice or be in imminent danger of eviction
-Be disabled/low income
-Elderly on fixed income
-Must have photo id
-If possible social security card on familiy members
We serve residents of Forrest, Lamar, Perry, Marion, Jefferson Davis, Covington, and Green Counties.
Call to make an appointment to visit with case worker.
Disaster Related Assistance
Bring with you:
*Valid picture Id
*Social security cards for all household members
*Fema #
*Proof of loss:for example.... fema award letter (this can be obtained at fema.gov, insurance statement of loss
*Proof of residency
We currently are not taking disaster related cases and do not have a listing of services that we do/ do not provid. We try our best to meet the clients immediate needs. If we are unable, we provide referrals as well as try to reach other organization. In case of such a disater should strike services will be set up to meet needs of clients.
Christmas Assistance
Applications will be taken October 12-16, 2009 in Forrest and Lamar Counties 5670 US 49, The Salvation Army Administration Building
Applications will be taken October 19, 2009 for Perry and Green Counties at The Salvation Army Senior Center - Beaumont, MS
Applications will be taken October 22, 2009 for Marion County at The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club 211 Arkansas, Columbia MS
Applications will be taken October 23, 2009 for Covington and Jefferson Davis Counties at the National Guard Armory, Collins, MS
Only head of household can apply.
Items to bring to Registration:
- - Long form birth certificates for all children 12 and under on Christmas Day
- - Valid photo ID
- - Bring custody/guardianship papers if child is not your biological child
- -Proof of all money coming into the house (including wages, SS, SSI, VA, retirement, child support, food stamps
- - contributions from family of friends must be recorded by the individuals providng the funds on a notorized statement
- -Proof of all actual expenses (rent, utilities, telephone, insurance, medical, any & all current expenses
- -Bring your child's clothes and shoe sizes
Proof means you must bring these items into the building at the time of the application!
Do not bring children with you when you come to apply!
Distribution will be held December 21, 2009.
