Admissions Policy

Applicants for admission to the ARC program are at various stages in their personal development. Virtually all have substance abuse issues (alcohol, drugs or both). Almost all have made bad choices in the past that may limit their opportunities to grow spiritually and emotionally. God's love extends to everyone.

The Salvation Army seeks to determine the point at which each applicant presently is, where he wants to go from there, and then help him develop the tools and character he needs to get there. Some cases are more challenging than others. We candidly acknowledge that not everyone who needs our help is ready for this program, and some people need to first resolve other issues before entering the ARC. They need to ask themselves if they want to succeed, if they are willing to do what needs to be done to succeed, if other things need to be taken care of first, and if they are willing to be pointed in the direction of better choices.

Applicants first meet with a counselor to discuss in detail where they are; this will include a personal assessment, and goals they would like to meet They must read and understand the program rules and regulations, and sign a contract.

The program maintains a zero tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use and random drug testing may be requested at any time. Failure to pass a drug or alcohol test will result in immediate removal from the program. Tobacco is not permitted in the facility.

The center maintains a library and reading area, vending machines, and a visitation room. No pets are permitted.

Residents are required to attend worship services each month; we encourage participants to attend every week. In addition, there is a personal counseling session once a month, with other sessions scheduled as needed. Required meetings and classes include life skills, relapse prevention, budget/finance, recovery meetings, vocational training and career planning.
