New Corps Community Center
The Jackson Corps is looking forward to the construction of our new Corps Community Center. At the current location there is a chapel, administration building, Center of Hope Transitional and Emergency Shelter, Family Thrift Store, and a few classrooms. The new community center will only allow us to serve, in a greater capacity, the needs of our community.
We will provide certified teachers in the afterschool program, provide senior adults a place to participate in the community, provide the gym and walking track for the public for little to no cost and hold church services in the chapel weekly for anyone willing to attend.
In the aftercare program children will also have an opportunity to attend summer camp at Hidden Lake in Lexington, MS at no cost. For senior adults in the day program there will be classes provided such as quilting, cooking and the opportunity to participate in the after care program where they can mentor young children.
Our primary objectives are to help youth by providing the aftercare program; giving senior citizens a day program where they feel useful, making our community healthier by providing the gymnasium and walking track, and most importantly teaching Christ love through The Salvation army Church. Our mission statement proclaims: "Our message is based on the Bible, our ministry is motivated by the love of God, and our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without
discrimination."
We are hopeful to break ground on this center later this year. The cost for the center is right around six million dollars. Through the awesome generosity of our donors, we have raised 4.5 million dollars. We are looking to raise the additional 1.5 million in time so we can keep construction on schedule.
