Flowers of Hope
The Flowers of Hope is a volunteer program where flowers are given to The Salvation Army of Johnson City at no cost. The Salvation Army collects flowers that are no longer sellable that have been pulled from the shelves at The Fresh Market, Kroger's and Food City in Johnson City. These stores donate flowers because they care about their community and want to give back through The Salvation Army.
Salvation Army volunteers take the second hand flowers, that would normally be thrown away; and turn them into beautiful bouquets. These arrangements are enjoyed by our neighbors who come to The Salvation Army's weekly senior citizen program as well as residents at our emergency and transitional homeless shelter, the Charles O. Gordon, Sr., Center of Hope. Bouquets are also delivered to hospitals, nursing and assisted living homes, hospice care patients, and shut-ins. Our Flowers of Hope program supports positive mental health, spreads joy, and offers comfort to many in our community.
The Salvation Army is proud to have dedicated volunteers who provide their time, energy and passion to this program. We give special thanks to the Shady Oaks Garden Club, Jonesborough Garden Club, and Monday Club. It is because of the hard work and dedication of our volunteers that The Flowers of Hope Program is so successful.
