JOHNSON CITY SALVATION ARMY'S RECENT GIANT GARAGE SALE RAISES $25,000.00 FOR HOMELESS AND LOW-INCOME ASSISTANCE
Johnson City, Tennessee - 28 April 2008
The Salvation Army's Giant Garage Sale and "Bag" Sale, held this month at the former Kroger building on South Roan Street, raised approximately $25,000.00 for local Salvation Army programs. Sales were tremendous and will go a long way to help area homeless and low-income families with food, shelter and clothing. The volunteer support from the community was tremendous as well, with dozens participating during the sale and enough valuable, desirable merchandise to, literally, more than fill a large grocery store.
Proceeds will go to local Salvation Army programs including the Center of Hope homeless shelter and public feeding kitchen, ministries for at-risk children and for the elderly, emergency help for families facing tough times, assistance to disaster victims and other essential life services to the less fortunate in the community.
