The Charles O. Gordon Center of Hope is located on our main campus in downtown Johnson City at 200 Ashe Street. In the Center of Hope, The Salvation Army provides emergency and transitional shelter, financial assistance through social services and meals through,bagged food for families and our feeding program. Our dedicated staff helps asses individual needs and work with individuals to determine the most helpful course of action. Feeding Kitchen Hours:
7 days per week from 11:30 -12:30 PM and 5:00 PM-6:00 PM. This ministry provides hot meals twice daily for the homeless or anyone in need of a meal. Breakfast is included for shelter residents only.
Social Service Hours:
Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM-4:30 PM by appointment. In addition, our social worker is in Erwin on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Our individual financial assistance helps prevent eviction, power shut-off, utilities, etc. Our social service office also provides food from our food pantry to those in need.
Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing:
Emergency shelter is short-term, lasting from an over night stay through 60 days. During this time, our case worker will guide the client through potential job placement.
The transitional housing program is for a stay of up to two years. During this time, the resident is enrolled in rehabilitation classes, life skills courses, financial and budget planning and job placement program.
