KNOXVILLE, TENN. - December 15, 2011 - The Salvation Army's Knoxville Area Command recently donated 1,200 Christmas Stockings to Knox County Community Action Committee's Mobile Meals program. The stockings were delivered along with the meals on Monday, Dec. 12. Each stocking contained toiletry items and were assembled by Knoxville-area volunteers. The Salvation Army has donated stockings to CAC's Mobile Meals program nearly ten years.
This year, each stocking contained a toiletry kit for either a man or woman. The kits included (soap, toothpaste, cologne/perfume, a comb, etc.), a blanket and a copy of The Salvation Army's official magazine, War Cry. "We're glad to have the opportunity to partner with Mobile Meals again this year," said Major Don Vick of The Salvation Army Army's Knoxville Area Command. "It's a great program and we're happy to help them provide the needy with what the essentials."
All 1,200 stockings were assembled by over one hundred volunteers beginning in mid November.
