Villafuerte is the Area Commander for The Salvation Army in Knoxville.
He oversees all aspects of The Salvation
Army’s mission and ministry throughout Knox, Anderson,
Blount, Sevier, Cocke and Campbell
Villafuerte is a native Texan who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Management. The 51-year-old officer has worked for The Salvation Army in
various capacities since 1987.
recent appointment was a five-year assignment as Area Commander of San Antonio,
he built a Corps Community
Center, a Senior HUD 202 Complex and an Outpost Center. He
also served four years in Washington, D.C.
as the Finance Secretary and Chief Technology Officer for the National Capital
and Virginia Division. Prior to that, he
served two years as the Finance Secretary for the Kentucky/Tennessee Division
and one year as the Finance Officer in the North and South Carolina
include: Corps Officer for four years in Midland,
Texas; two years in Beaumont,
Texas in which a new Corps community center
and Boys & Girls Club were built; and three years in Big Spring, Texas
in which a Battered Women’s Shelter was started.
time he enjoys fitness and the outdoors. He and his wife,
Yvette, have been married for
thirty years. They have a 20-year-old
daughter, Gabrielle, and two cats. The
Villafuertes enjoy RV camping and spend a couple of weeks each year exploring
outdoors. Their favorite spot is the Smoky Mountains
around Maggie Valley, North Carolina and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
