Serving Storm Victims in Southern Mississippi

edsLaurel, MS – The Salvation Army of Laurel, MS has deployed a disaster response team and mobile feeding unit to the Shady grove area in Jones County, Mississippi. Throughout the night a strong thunderstorm began moving across much of the mid south spurning several tornadoes.

A  Mobile feeding unit will be present today to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to residents. 

Teams will work throughout the day to ensure that residents of can focus on recovery, while The Salvation Army meets their physical and emotional needs

The Salvation Army will be providing care and compassion to Jones County residents affected by these storms. We eagerly desire to reach out to the hurting residents of south Mississippi as we near thanksgiving,” stated Lt. Patrick Connelly of The Salvation Army in Laurel. “A celebratory season does not mean that pain and suffering will subside, but we pray our presence will bring the hope of a brighter tomorrow.

The Salvation Army has placed 14 feeding units on alert as storms continue to move across Mississippi and Alabama.
