Celebrate the joyous Christmas season with many wonderful ways to volunteer. You may find that the time you give will be a blessing to others and to yourself. If you are interest in volunteering in any one of these areas, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 853-2214 ext. 222.

Christmas Applications
Help those seeking assistance from The Salvation Army in the application and interview process. Volunteers will be recruited in September 2013.

The Angel Tree

Bring joy to a needy child at Christmas by becoming a sponsor for an angel from the Lakeland Square Mall Giving Tree. This special Christmas tree is loaded with paper ornaments labeled with children's first names, clothing sizes and their wish list. Select a name from the tree, shop for the child and return your purchases to the Angel Tree. Schools, businesses, churches and other organizations can help by adopting angels or families directly through The Salvation Army, or by sponsoring a tree in your lobby.  Contact Betty Green at 853-2214 ext. 227 for more information.

Christmas 2012 - We are thankful to report that 927 local families received holiday groceries and 3,892 needy children received new toys and clothes from The Salvation Army.

Open your heart to a family in need. Share the joy of Christmas by sponsoring a less fortunate family and provide food, clothing and/or toys. For details please call Betty at 853-2214 ext. 227.

Toy Drive
Become a collection station for a good cause. Local schools, churches, businesses and mobile home communities may collect new toys to be given out at Christmas to families in need. For details please call Betty at 853-2214 ext. 227.

The Red Kettle

Ring a bell for The Salvation Army red kettle and help collect the change that changes lives for the holidays and throughout the year. The red kettle is a century-old Christmas symbol, helping shoppers remember the less fortunate during the holiday season.

Groups and individuals are needed to ring bells at our familiar red kettles.  The 2013 dates are from: November 15 - December 24.

For details please call Debbie at 853-2214 ext. 222.

The Salvation Army depends on the donations collected in the kettles, to provide services in West Polk County.  When a kettle is not available, checks may always be sent to The Salvation Army, 2620 Kathleen Road, Lakeland, FL 33810.

Stuff A Stocking
We provide the stockings, you provide the stuffing! Fill stockings with small gifts for needy children. The stockings will be given out to children through The Salvation Army Toy Shop.  For details please call Betty at 853-2214 ext. 227.

Shoe Santa
Since 2011, generous donors helped The Salvation Army provide a new pair of Christmas shoes for each family member living at the Emergency Family Shelter and the Family Living Program.  This past year, 80 pairs of shoes were purchased at Christmas time for homeless moms, dads, and children at The Salvation Army.

World's Largest Kettle
The Salvation Army of Western Polk County is the proud owner of the World's Largest Kettle! Seven feet high and six feet in diameter, this large kettle comes out for special events, holidays and parades. Fillling this kettle is our goal each year. You may request it for your business or church parking lot or for a special event, by contacting Susan Hurlburt at (863) 940-2868.
