Transitional Living Center

The Transitional Living Center (TLC) Program is designed to help families acquire and develop the necessary tools to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency ini a permanent living arrangement. Through life-skill training in budgeting, and money management, parenting, nutrition, education, and problem solving, these families are provided the opportunities to reach a self-supporting level of independence. The facility provides twelve apartments, fully furnished wit laundry facilities. The program offers free child care while parents are working. H.A.L.O. Child Enrichment Center

H.A.L.O. Child Enrichment Center (Helping and Learning Opportunities) is a licensed child care facility established specifically for homeless children who are currently residing in our TLC program or other local shelters. HALO is staffed whith child care professionals who offer love, support, and stability. They work to create an atmosphere which benefits the children emotionally, socially, and academically. Parental partnership is also an important part of HALO's purpose. HALO's staff work with parents on parenting skills and provide them opportunities to practice these skills. Our goal is to provide a safe place for children to learn and grow while their parents work toward a secure future.

Social Ministries

This program provides assistance to families who have had an unexpected emergency and find themselves without food, an eviction notice or utility shut off notice. Some prescription assistance can be provided on a limited basis. An identification assistance program is available to help homeless persons obtain state I.D. cards, so that they may work and/or access community services.

Emergency Shelter & Feeding Program

The Center of Hope can accommodate families with children as well as single men and women, whether the need for shelter is due to loss of a home or a domestic situation. The shelter provides a community lunch daily, as well as a hot shower, fresh linens, warm bed, breakfast, and dinner to those that stay overnight. The shelter is a temporary emergency service where staff assist clients in finding solutions to their problems.

Outreach Ministry

The Salvation Army Canteen is a mobile ministry.  Driven by our Outreach Worker and volunteers who provide sandwiches, fellowship, education, and information to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.

Youth Outreach & HEARTH Tutoring Program 

After-school program and Summer Day Camp provides a safe place for school-aged children to learn and grow while thier parents work.  The HEARTH Tutoring program is a cooperative effort with the Polk County School Board offering tutoring services to area children who are either homeless or at-risk of homelessness.  Children are transported to and from the Army's facilities where tutoring activities take place.
