Thousands in Loudoun County receive assistance each year through an array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. Through these programs, the Salvation Army of Loudoun County carries on the work that the Salvation Army began in London in 1865, and has spread throughout the world. Our goal is to make sure that no child goes to school hungry, no parent has to disappoint his/her child on Christmas morning, and no senior citizen has to choose between groceries and his/her medications.

A few of our specific strategies for helping families right here in our community succeed:

Daily emergency assistance – Short-term financial assistance, including help with rent, utilities, food, furniture, car repairs, clothing and more. The Salvation Army coordinates with the Loudoun County Department of Family Services to ensure that assistance is provided only to those with a documented need.

Medical program – Emergency medical and medication assistance to the needy.

Family Thrift Store – The store at 10 Cardinal Park Drive, Leesburg, allows needy families to purchase donated clothing, furniture and other essentials at affordable prices. (See the How You Can Help Us page for information on how to make donations to the store.)

Christmas Food Vouchers – Grocery store gift card vouchers for individuals and families in need, during these holidays.

Thanksgiving meal – A nourishing, warm meal is served at our Corps building, to all who ask. Many local restaurants and families assist by preparing, donating and serving the food.

Angel Tree Program – Each year during the Christmas season, families and individuals purchase Christmas gifts of clothing, shoes, toys, personal items and other gifts for needy children and elderly. Local businesses and churches provide Angel Tree sites.

Tools For Schools Program – Children receive such essentials as clothes, shoes, notebooks and backpacks to help them prepare for school in the fall.

Community Care – Volunteers make or purchase small gifts and deliver them to local elderly people in need of love, attention and companionship.

Men’s and Women’s Ministry – Regular worship, community outreach, fellowship, and education – with a light supper served.
Women's Meeting - Every Monday @ 10 AM
Women's Outreach - Second Thursday of the month 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Men's Club - Fourth Thursday of the month 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Camps – Bible classes, arts and crafts, music, and a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming and hiking. Character-building is an essential component of these camp programs.

Weekly worship services and Sunday School – Families nourish their spirits while enjoying meaningful fellowship with their neighbors.

“Doing the Most Good,” efficiently – Our officers and staff work with other community agencies to provide unique solutions – sometimes as the only resource for the needy – while avoiding costly duplication of services. About 83 cents of every dollar raised by the Salvation Army is used for the actual provision of services to those in need. We receive no government funds.
