APARTMENT FIRE SURVIVORS TO RECEIVE NEW FURNITURE

April 11, 2012

LUBBOCK, TX - The Salvation Army of Lubbock and Aaron's, Inc. are partnering to provide each household affected by yesterday's apartment fire with $1,000 in new furniture. The Salvation Army will provide $500 to each household and Aaron's will match this amount. The Salvation Army anticipates spending $11,000 on new furniture for survivors.

APARTMENT FIRE VICTIMS RECEIVE SHELTER, CLOTHING

April 10, 2012

LUBBOCK, TX- The Salvation Army of Lubbock today responded to a two-alarm apartment fire that affected at least 38 individuals. Tonight, The Salvation Army is preparing to provide shelter to an estimated 20 individuals affected by the fire. The Salvation Army will also provide survivors with clothing vouchers redeemable at The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store.

$5 BBQ DINNER HELPS GIVE HOPE IN CENTRAL TEXAS

LUBBOCK, TX-  The Salvation Army's youth group is hosting a BBQ dinner on Friday, March 23 to raise funds for a mission trip to New Braunfels and Killeen this summer. The youth will be helping to expand Salvation Army outreach in those areas.

OVER 4,300 CHILDREN IN NEED OF A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE

November 28, 2011

LUBBOCK, TX- This year, The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program will help to provide gifts to over 4,300 children in need making Christmas a joyful time for all. In the last two years, the number of children in this program has grown by 2,200 including an increase of 700 over last year alone. The Salvation Army is looking to the community's generosity to ensure that each of these precious children receive a few gifts on Christmas morning.

Salvation Army Kettle Workers Ring for Salary

LUBBOCK, TX- Each year, The Salvation Army of Lubbock provides jobs to 150 individuals from the Lubbock community in need of work. In addition to providing jobs and much needed income for the workers, The Salvation Army provides each kettle worker with: work clothes, training, lessons in work ethic, daily motivational addresses, and housing. The cost of kettle worker salaries is covered in part through donations made to the Red Kettle program, as well as through the Red Kettle Sponsorship program.

Now you can use your credit or debit card to make a donation to people in need 10 Salvation Army Red Kettles, as well as at more than 300 locations in more than 120 cities across the country. While still happily accepting spare change and paper money, the nation's largest direct provider of social services is offering the new payment options to facilitate the delivery of more food, toys, clothing and other critical services to people not only during the Christmas season but throughout the year.

THE SALVATION ARMY BEGINS NEW TRANSITIONAL SHELTER PROGRAM

September 30, 2011

LUBBOCK, TX- The Salvation Army of Lubbock today opened renovated facilities for men's, women's and family transitional shelters as well as renovated facilities for the men's emergency shelter. The Transitional Sheltering Program is a 30-90 day program that helps families work towards key objectives that allow them to become self-sufficient.The Salvation Army will now offer a total of 84 shelter beds across its two shelter programs, an increase of 36 beds from the previous capacity of 48 beds.

SALVATION ARMY AND TARGET HELP 12 LUBBOCK CHILDREN DRESS FOR SUCCESS

July 26, 2011

LUBBOCK, TX- Today The Salvation Army of Lubbock and Target teamed up to provide gift cards to children in need. $80 gift cards were given to 12 children in grades K-12 selected from existing Salvation Army programs. The gift cards were used to purchase back-to-school items including: clothing, uniforms, shoes and undergarments. The Salvation Army will also provide these children with backpacks and school supplies later next month.

LUBBOCK HUD PRESENTS SALVATION ARMY OF LUBBOCK WITH 'GIANT' CHECK

LUBBOCK SALVATION ARMY ASSISTS IN BIRMINGHAM TORNADO RELIEF

May 13, 2011

BIRMINGHAM, AL- Seven Salvation Army employees from across Texas are in Birmingham today offering aid to the tornado survivors there. The Salvation Army of Lubbock's Melody Paton is one of seven Salvation Army employees from Texas who travelled to Birmingham, Alabama Saturday to relieve local Salvation Army crews, who had been working up to 18 hours a day, even as they recovered from their own human and material loss.

United Supermarkets Commits $150,000 Gift to The Salvation Army’s Transitional Housing Program

SALVATION ARMY AIDS WILDFIRE RESPONDERS ACROSS WEST TEXAS

LUBBOCK, TX- The Salvation Army of Lubbock has joined forces with other area Salvation Army’s to provide aid to the many firemen, policemen, and other responders of the wildfires spreading rapidly across West Texas. The Salvation Army will continue its efforts to aid responders into next week as needed.
