Volunteers know the truth of the verse, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." There are few things more rewarding than giving one's time to help someone else.

The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone. Among its basic resources are volunteers. The ways they can help are innumerable, astonishingly diverse. Possibilities range from behind the scenes clerical duties to teaching English as a second language, from sorting items at a thrift store or food pantry to supervising children's activities. During the Christmas season, an especially busy time for The Salvation Army, opportunities only multiply. Volunteerism is also crucial during times of natural disaster, when The Salvation Army is on the front lines of relief and recovery.

Below are just a few of the opportunities to invest your time --- to help change a life.

  • Food Pantry - sorting donated non-perishable food recevied through community food drives.
  • Family Thrift Store - organizing donated items to be placed in the store for sale.
  • Bell Ringing - ring a bell in front of The Salvation Army Red Kettle at a designated location. (November 16th - December 24th, No Sundays)
  • Community Meals - help set up, serve or clean up for Thanksgiving or  Christmas dinner.
  • Christmas Assistance Registration - Interview individuals for qualifying information.  Good penmanship is a plus!  (Oct. 6th - 10th  & Oct. 13th - 17th) Shifts:  8:45 am - Noon and/or 12:45 pm - 4:15 pm
  • Adopt a Kettle - For just $500 you can adopt a kettle for the day.  A sign will be placed at a location telling the community you or your group is helping by adopting a kettle.  (November 21st - December 24th)
