How We Help...

Dedicated to enriching the lives of the people we serve, The Salvation Army of the Mississippi Gulf Coast's programs and services enable us to truly make a difference every day.  We deliver our brand of Doing The Most Good commitment to the various neighborhoods and communities we serve in George, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, and Stone counties.

Counseling - Spreading the Word of God and using his wisdom to help our community overcome difficult situations, is also an important part of The Salvation Army's mission.   "The greatness of a man's power is the measure of his surrender." -William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army. During disaster relief efforts and in times of emergency each of our mobile feeding units deployed into affected areas is staffed with an ordained minister who can offer emotional and spiritual support.  Each of our officers is trained to offer this type of counsel.  For those seriously ill or on their last breathe, The Salvation Army's ministry of love is also made available to ease their pain.

Emergency Assistance - Every case is treated individually.  We will work with any qualified individuals in need.  We will try to refer clients to other agencies who may be able to help them if we cannot. For more information, contact your local office.

Evening Meals - Meals are served 7 days a week to anyone needing a meal at 3217 Nathan Hale, Pascagoula, MS starting at 5:30 p.m.

Family Stores - Our stores supports our many outreach programs by turning reusable goods into much needed funding. Proceeds generated by Family Store sales are used to give tangible assistance and offer hope to MS Gulf Coast residents. Your donation could mean a mother and child are housed, a hungry man is fed, and a family stays warm.

Food Assistance - The Salvation Army's Food Pantry provides bags of nonperishable food to families and seniors in need.  Available in George, Harrison, and Jackson Counties.

Shelter -For those without a place to call home, The Salvation Army many times means the difference between safety and danger.  Men have been coming off the streets through The Salvation Army.  Located in Pascagoula, this facility not only offers them a place to live, but also the resources they will need to stay off the streets once they leave.  Please call 228-762-7222 for more information.

Crisis Sheltering - The Center of Hope shelters individuals and families who are in need of a safe place to sleep. Our center is dedicated to helping men, women and families overcome the situations and conditions that have brought them to our shelter.

Christmas Assistance - Clients register with the Social Services Department to determine eligibility to participate in our Christmas gift and food program. All registered children receive mesh stockings filled with small gifts and are registered to become "Angels" on the Angel Tree.  Senior Citizens are also eligible to receive Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree. For more information about registering your family for the Christmas Programs, contact Social Services office in George, Harrison, and Jackson counties.
