THQ MUSIC DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES OPEN AUDITIONS FOR SOUTHERN TERRITORIAL SONGSTERS

For the first time ever, auditions will be conducted for participation in the Southern Territorial Songsters, beginning with the 2011 season. The Songsters (a 16-member group made up of Salvation Army officers and soldiers) will participate in the following events:

January 6-9, 2011 in the Carolinas Division (exact location TBA)
June 1-5, 2011 – Commissioning (Atlanta, GA)
August 18-21, 2011 – Territorial Bible Conference (Lake Junaluska, NC)

Those auditioning for the group must be able to make a commitment to participation in all three weekends listed above.

Auditions will be accomplished by recorded video and may be submitted either through video upload or by mailing the recorded DVD or VHS to the THQ Music Department.

The deadline to receive auditions is November 1, 2010.

Complete details and instructions for completing the audition are included in the attached document. Please read and follow very carefully!

VISION 2020 - Live Music in Every Corps by 2020

The Territorial Music Department is happy to announce Vision 2020. Our goal is that there will be some type of live music and arts in every corps in the Southern Territory by the year 2020 that will enhance worship, whether it be piano accompaniment or praise team, guitar, dance group, brass band, songster brigade, singing company, drama group, timbrels, visual arts, etc. The Salvation Army soldiers and officers are gifted with so much music and arts talent. We want to encourage the use of those gifts in worship of our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Divisional Music Directors and Territorial Music Committee have caught the vision and will be working on the divisional level to offer training and resources that will support these efforts to move to the use of live music and arts in worship services across the territory.

TERRITORIAL CREATIVE ARTS ENSEMBLE - ACCEPTING AUDITIONS

The Territorial Creative Arts Ensemble, made up of 8 individuals from all over the Southern Territory, models and displays a high standard of the Creative Arts as a ministry for worship. We are looking for officers and soldiers (ages 18 and up) who can sing, dance, and do drama, have a passion for performing and ministering through the arts, and who are available for events scheduled for January 6-9, 2011 in the Carolinas Division (exact location TBA), and June 1-5, 2011 – Commissioning (Atlanta, GA).
