Youth Center Capital Campaign
In late 2012, The Salvation Army announced exciting plans build a new Youth Center in East Naples. Myra Janco Daniels, founder of the Philharmonic Center for the Arts and Chair of the Capital Campaign, became involved in the project because she sees the need to provide after-school activities in this area.
The proposed 21,000-square-foot facility will have computer labs, sports facilities, a creative arts school and a variety of workshop and classroom space.
The Youth Center now has a name with the April 22, 2013, news of a $2.2 million gift from Naples resident Janet Cohen. With this donation, the largest single gift in our history, the Fran Cohen Youth Center took a giant step in the right direction.
The center was named in honor of Harvey and Janet Cohen's daughter, Fran, who died of breast cancer in 2010. Fran loved children and would have believed in this cause. "I think that helping children to be successes in life is very important," said Mrs. Cohen. "If we don't have that, then we don't have much of anything."
The center will fill a critical need for thousands of elementary and middle school children who do not currently have access to programs when they are out of school.

Naming opportunities are available and an endowment fund is being established to support future operating costs once construction is complete.
