Released 2 December 2011
Nashville, Tenn. -On Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9:00 a.m., hundreds of runners will run through Hall of Fame Park and downtown Nashville during the Bridge to Bridge Four Mile Race in support of The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. I Run for the Party Event Management is challenging runners to "Run for An Angel" by fund raising in addition to their registration fee.
The Bridge to Bridge Run for Angels will provide much needed funding to The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program that provides children and seniors with personalized gifts and necessities who would otherwise receive very little or nothing during the holiday season. Running for an Angel is much like adopting an angel from the mall, except the monetary donations will help support The Salvation Army provide for angels that may not have been adopted.
Bridge to Bridge is a unique 4 mile race that takes runners across all three of downtown's bridges (Union Street, Shelby Pedestrian and Korean Veterans). A smaller one-mile loop will be available for families with children and walkers. The course will be fun with plenty of holiday cheering.
The race will kick off with messages from Mayor Karl Dean and Lt. Col. Charles White, Founder of the Angel Tree program. Christmas music will be provided by The Nashville Choir and The Salvation Army's Brass Band. Country Music Artist Jimmy Wayne, who recorded the song "Paper Angels" and recently wrote a book called "Paper Angels," will be participating in the one mile walk. Wayne, a former recipient of the Angel Tree program, will encourage people to walk along side of him for angels.
Some favorite holiday treats will be available at the finish line including: doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, bagels from Hard Rock Café, bananas donated from Sysco, bottled water from Daily's and hot chocolate served from The Salvation Army's canteen.
Runners can register for the race at www.irunfortheparty.com. The entry fee is $35 through Dec. 2 and $40 on race day. Registrants are encouraged to set up a fund raising page. A suggested $50 donation covers the normal costs of adopting an angel and will provide items such as clothing and toys.
A Packet pick up party is planned for tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st at The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Warehouse located at 700 Cowan Street, Nashville, TN 37207, between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. People may also register on site.

About The Salvation Army's Angel Tree
Angel Tree gives individuals and partnering corporations an opportunity to adopt less fortunate children and seniors and provide personalized gifts and necessities to those who would otherwise receive very little or nothing during the holiday season. Donors can be confident that their gifts go directly, and without excessive overhead, to those who are truly needy since all Salvation Army Angels are not served by other holiday assistance programs.
