Familes in Crisis
The Salvation Army is known for helping people in times of disaster.
But everyday, families in the National Capital Area face a variety of crises:
- Single, working-poor parents can't find affordable child-care.
- Domestic violence tears families apart and inflicts emotional scars on its victims.
- Lack of adequate income prevents many families from providing school supplies and Christmas gifts for their children.
The Salvation Army believes the core unit of a society is the
family. For the thousands of families living in poverty, we provide a
range of emergency assistance to help them through crisis situations.
This includes not only financial assistance but a range of other
support opportunities, including a homelessness-prevention program that
helps those on the verge of losing everything to stay in their homes
and to improve the way they handle their finances in order to prevent
future crises.
